I love to watch home improvement TV shows and browse catalogs dreaming about what I need in my home to make it the perfect retreat. But adding elaborate and specific upgrades may make my home less desirable to a buyer. This may cost me money if my home is on the market for a longer period of time when I sell. While I imagine encountering a buyer who loves my home the same way that I do, after watching a few episodes of House Hunters on HGTV, I am reminded that everyone has very different taste and the odds may not be in my favor!

Recently a new client confided in me that he did two things when he got this job. First, he confirmed the start date, and then he reviewed the employee benefit package. He recounted that he had read every condition covered in the health benefit package, reviewed the vacation and holiday schedule, then stumbled across the mortgage benefit package, the no cost employee home ownership program. “I was delighted that was available to me as well as my family as I have a brother who is expecting a baby and will be buying a home soon”. He immediately went to the Advantage Home Plus web site to read more. “I thought it would just offer education on mortgages for the first time buyer, and contact information, but I discovered that the website was a great place to inquire about loan prequalification, refinancing, home renovation loans and to learn about every aspect of the home buying experience”, he said.
